He stayed comfortably with Isidore Baron, his uncle's mentor for the presidency of the Trade and Industry Union. He thinks he's on his way to happiness. He is madly in love with Catherine, now a substitute teacher at the Saint Didier school. He makes a new friend, Émile Raversi, who understands him and reveals his talent for drawing.
