This work presents the most up-to-date knowledge and know-how available about water pollution in the rural environment and the dynamics involved in restoring its quality. The projects discussed are mainly located in a breeding area along the Atlantic coast and in Brittany (France), in particular. Four major themes are developed:
- Indicators, including biological ones, and methods for monitoring changes in quality;
- Innovative tools and techniques for more effective management of fertilisation, crop protection and the integration of rural development;
- Modelling (the effect of the ecosystem, practices, land development, scenarios);
- The mobilisation of those involved in the sector.
This book is intended for a broad readership: scientists, development officers, farmers and representatives of the administration and local governments.
