Si certaines sont impressionnantes et effrayantes, d'autres sont drôles et rassurantes !
In the Weimar Republic of the 1920s, a new form of collective dance emerged in many German cities, initiated by choreographer Rudolf von Laban and his students. These dance collectives were known as movement choirs. Amateurs, mostly from working-class backgrounds, danced together in large groups, often outdoors. Their past performances chart a lineage of interventionist practice in the public space, which continues today as demonstrated by contemporary artist collective LIGNA with their 2013 piece Tanz aller-(Dance of all-). LIGNA's recent work, based in media theory and performance art, takes these historical movement choirs as source material and inspiration. This volume-part history, part theoretical manifesto on the politics of collective dance-includes primary source texts, scientific essays, historical images and documents of LIGNA's contemporary performance work.
