This work relies on extensive photographic documentation to do illustrative justice to the audacity and courage of the American soldier and the fighting he engaged in from the first hours during the Battle of the Bulge in the face of the attack and advance of units from the 5th Panzer Army. It was the GI who managed to split, slow down, turn away and exhaust the onslaught of the adversary. The resistance of all those men enabled reinforcements to reach Bastogne and to slow down considerably the advance of the German divisions headed for the Meuse. The Battle of the Bulge can very rightly be called a battle of soldiers. A battle during which courageous men fought during long days to defend every inch of ground so as to preserve their freedom. That is why the Battle of the Bulge belongs to them.
